What is a Storyhouse?
The Storyhouse is a viewer operated “crankie” box, a picture story that moves. Traditionally these boxes have been used indoors for performances. An artist turns the handle of a crank that winds images made on a scroll while singing or reciting a story often accompanied by music. For the Storyhouse, an artist creates a work on a scroll and the viewer can interact with the piece by turning gears.
